Garlic Essential Oil

History: Garlic (Allium sativum) is a vegetable of the Liliaceae family that has been used in cooking and as a medicine for hundreds of years around the world. Its bulb, commonly known as the head and made up of several teeth, is the real responsible for all this fame. In ancient Egypt, for example, garlic was already used to remedy diarrhea and in ancient Greece, it was used to treat lung and intestinal pathologies. For starters, garlic has considerable levels of allicin (di-propenyl-thiosulfinate). Garlic was also much loved by the ancient Egyptians, was chewed by the Olympians of Greece, and was thought to be essential for warding off vampires. The plant has been used through the centuries in different countries as protection against the devil.

Therapeutic Properties: It is a very powerful antiseptic - possibly the most powerful of all oils. It is anti-bacterial, anti-virus, hypotensive (lowers blood pressure). As it works very well on the immune system, it is great for preventing colds and flu and for treating and decongesting the airways and bronchitis. It is great for lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Precautions: Use in a dilution between 0.5 or 1% maximum. Do not use on children or breastfeeding women. Do not use in people with low blood pressure, stomach ulcers, hyperthyroidism, severe bleeding (or who are being treated with anticoagulants).
