Yansã

Iansã, or Oyá, is an orixá whose Catholic syncretism is with Santa Bárbara.

In the legends from Candomblé, Iansã was the wife of Ogun and then Xangô, her true love. Xangô stole it from Ogun. The name Iansã is a title that Oyá received from Xangô. This title refers to the sunset, Iansã can be translated as the mother of the pink sky or the mother of the sunset.
Contrary to what many think, Iansã does not mean the mother of the nine. Xangô called her Iansã because he said that Oyá was radiant like the sunset or like the pink sky and that's why the color pink is her color par excellence. In the Umbanda liturgy, Iansã is the mistress of the eguns, the spirits of the dead.

In Umbanda, Iansã's guide is yellow and in Candomblé it is red.

In Candomblé she is also known as Oyá.
