Iara Caboclo

In the terreiros of Mina do Maranhão, where healing rituals (Pajelança) are also performed, the terms: Iara, Mãe DÁgua or Caboclas dos Rios, designate the set of caboclo spiritual entities received by a pajé or healer, and are classified as Fresh Water Line.

It also designates entities half fish and half woman, enchanted in rivers and streams.

Mãe DÁgua is represented iconographically in the terreiros of Maranhão in a similar way to Iemanjá.
